Our Raw State Gallery in Promenada Sopocka will host a sculpture exhibition for the first time. The opening of Mariusz Burdek’s exhibition entitled Barriers is scheduled for September 27 at 6:00 p.m.The exhibition will be open to visitors until October 12, 2025, daily from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (except Tuesdays and Fridays).
The exhibition will primarily feature sculptures and installations created as part of the Barriers project. This work is an artistic response to geopolitical unrest and the tense atmosphere of the modern world. The presented works address the themes of uncertainty, instability, and attempts at isolation, which become metaphorical barriers in interpersonal relationships. The exhibition also refers to the artist’s earlier series, in which he addressed issues of relationships with others and the search for bonds in the face of social divisions.
Mariusz Burdek, born in Limanowa, has been associated with Gdańsk for many years. He is a graduate and employee of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, where he obtained his doctorate and serves as vice-dean of the Sculpture Department. The artist has participated in numerous symposia and exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including in Lithuania, Hungary, and Thailand, where he won the Excellence Award during the Fusion of Perspectives exhibition.
The Barriers exhibition was funded by the City of Gdańsk as part of the Gdańsk Cultural Scholarship Creative Fund.
